More new stuff…

Hi to Paul, thanks for that. Yeah, I kinda feel that UK hifi lost it’s way after that period, becoming consumed with style and not moving on with the substance. I hope to change that…
Anyway, to issue.
Regarding the recent review (as can be found by googling TNT-AUDIO), I feel I need to talk more about the required amplification. I’m sure you all know my needs are modest (I RnD’d the Caterthuns on a 200 UKP 25W tube/hybrid amp), but I’ve recently been challenged with prototyping a new amplifier project with a budget of… nothing. Nada. Niet. Nien. Not a sausage. Nil points.
So, bring on the Scrap-lifier (TM, working title, may become “The Scr-amplifier”).
I’ve got some (occasionally unfortunate) experience at this, and I’m not afraid of calculators or soldering irons, so I gleefully tucked into my scrap-pile and googled myself an ebay link to some people with a similar philosophy to me.
I landed myself with a 60W op-amp cct with a 6N valve in the signal line. As our reviewer noticed, this is a very good solution for our Caterthuns, but my case goes further; this is a very good solution, PERIOD.
So, the S’not-cra-mpli-flier (insert own joke here) is running in, on it’s test bed. Photos soon. Initial impressions are “why didn’t I do this sooner..?”
Updates to come.
