Just back from the show and yet to unpack. Had another great day. For once I actually got round a whole show; these smaller events give you time to meet everybody. Full show report to follow.
In the mean time, I’ll tell you my top three rooms.
3) Audio Note. Strong imaging in the high end and reasonable value for money at under five grand, given they do little wrong, and tucked into the corners they gave adequate bass, but over-rich in the mids for my taste, probably due to their flexible cabinets reverberating all over the place. Styling… non-existent.
2) Avid Audio. Good sound all round, and good imaging with real depth, plus they looked AMAZING, but 43 thousand pounds. 43 thousand pounds sterling.
1) Good sound all round; plenty of bass with fine vocal ability and impact. Good stereo imaging, wide with some depth. OK domestic appearance. Cheapest ‘flagship’ model at under 4 thousand quid. Best value all round? Guess who!
