“Air is an imperfect medium to transfer sound. If you want to measure a loudspeaker and maintain signal integrity over distance we need something better!”- Bruce Thigpen / Eminent Technology.
He’s right. Actually, it goes much further than that. Air is horrible stuff; it does not compress evenly at different frequencies, nor is the speed of sound consistent in different air densities /temperatures /pressures.
Add to that the problems posed by ROOMS, with their different dimensions, resonant frequencies, altitudes and weathers.
“And you want me to build something that can cope with all conditions AND musical styles, without adjustment, in a single fit-and-forget package??? … Hmm, OK!”
Introducing the new Alacrity Audio Dundee6.
Standing 1200mm tall, with 86dB sensitivity @ 8ohms, these magnificent loudspeakers are the product of 3 years RnD, and represent the pinnacle of Alacrity Audio’s design ethos.
Graced with our usual compliment of 6.5 inch drive units, they leave our already impressive Caterthun8s behind in most of the important areas; depth of bass, warmth, stereo imagery and mid-range realism. If the Caterthun8s were “acoustically invisible” (Nick Whetstone), then our Dundee6s are Acoustic Doorways, leading to another world of audio experience.
Hear them for yourself at this years Whittlebury NAS (National Audio Show) September 2014.
See you there.
