Malvern Audio Research Visit.

Success comes in many forms. For some it’s Fame or Wealth that counts. Others seek power, responsibility or thrills. And there’s a section of people that just draw satisfaction from a job done well.

Our visit to Malvern Castle passed-off without a hitch. Mark of MingDaUK fame has been a fan of our loudspeakers for a long time now and, having had a pair to himself for the weekend at the Indulgence show, he finally sent out a stagecoach to demand our presence in Malvern Towers. Passing through the portcullis with it’s guards and their pikes, we were welcomed by his fair maidens and shown to his inner chambers.

Mark and his MAR pal Raj are wonderfully warm people, and a relaxed atmosphere pervaded the whole afternoon. I love being in the presence of other Mavericks; the system we listened to was a mixture of prototypes, finished goods and my loudspeakers, just like being at home, coupled with the same “watch where you sit” approach to circuit board storage.

And, oh my, doesn’t it show when you’re in the hands of people who know what they’re doing. If I were to describe the stereo imagery at one point, I’d say “ghostly”, not because it seemed ethereal or insubstantive, but because it actually made me jump out of my skin.

So, after a state banquet, it was proposed that there be a conjoining of our great houses, the sprawling Malvern Estates and our humble HiFi Cave (“mind where you sit”), sealed with a sample pair of Caterthun8s.

“Hurrah!!!”
